Earlier this year, Founders Entertainment (now owned by Live Nation), the people behind NYC’s Governors Ball, said they also wanted to throw a festival in Queens (the same borough AEG’s Panorama Fest is/was supposed to happen). That has officially come to be. It’s called The Meadows Music & Arts Festival and happens at in the parking area of Citi Field, which is part of and Flushing Meadows-Corona Park (hence the name). It goes down on October 1 & 2.
The lineup is pretty impressive, with Kanye West (who was supposed to headline the rained-out Sunday of GovBall) and The Weeknd headlining. Other acts include Chance the Rapper, Grimes, Savages, Twin Shadow (performing Prince’s Purple Rain), Sylvan Esso, Pusha T, Kamasi Washington, Yeasayer, Frightened Rabit, Charles Bradley, The 1975 and more, plus two more TBA.
Tickets go on presale to past GovBall ticket-holders on Wednesday (6/22) at 11 AM and the general on-sale starts Thursday (6/23) at 11 AM.
Kanye also has two sold-out MGS shows on his upcoming tour.
